We are committed to ensuring that no one should go hungry because they cannot afford to buy food.
Accordingly, we provide the following food programs:
We maintain a fully stocked pantry with everyday foods. Anyone that comes to the Centre and asks for food is given a hamper of enough food to last a few days. Volunteers manage stocking and distributing food from the pantry. Food can be obtained from the Centre Monday to Friday from 10am – 4pm.
We provide a free 3 course meal every Monday night from 5.30pm at the Masonic Hall at 69 Barkly St Mornington. No registration is required and all are welcome.
We distribute free fresh food from SecondBite every Thursday from 10.30am at St Mark’s Uniting Church Hall, 50 Barkly St Mornington. All are welcome to attend.
We can provide people with food vouchers for Woolworths.
We rescue unsold bread from Bakers Delight every Monday night and are able to provide free bread throughout the week, for those that want it.
We work closely with a large number of community partners, and in particular St Vincent de Paul, to provide Christmas hampers to those in need in our local area. The hampers are full of special Christmas fare including Christmas cake, pudding, custard, juice, ham, biscuits, nuts, and lollies. Registrations are required and can be made through either our Centre or St Vincent de Paul throughout November and are usually distributed from the Studio in Wilson’s Rd in the second week of December.
