  • Community based

The Mornington Community Information and Support Centre was established to provide a support and information service for residents and visitors to Mornington and district. The Centre opened for business in 1983 in a building at the corner of Main and Elizabeth Streets, Mornington, which was built by the then Mornington Shire Council for this special purpose.

The Community Information and Support Centre has developed in response to community needs and provides direct aid and crisis intervention together with support, information, advice and referral to residents and visitors to the Mornington Peninsula Shire. The service is an independent community organisation managed by a committee which is elected from the membership each year and is staffed mainly by volunteers.

With the completion of the building extension in July 1999 our Centre took on a new look as clients, workers and visitors found the surroundings more spacious and suitable for the services provided. The new interview rooms have facilitated an increase in the number of visiting services available to people in the Mornington district and the meeting room has provided a much needed community venue also.

We have provided Tourism Informate since 1983, but in 2003 we increased our operating hours from 5 days a week to 7 days a week service.
